LivingDesign Company

Your home should support your life, not limit it.

Living well at home

A home that supports the way you live.

With thoughtful planning, your home can adapt to your needs and bring peace of mind to you and your loved ones.

Sometimes that means small adjustments. Sometimes it means reimagining a space. And sometimes it’s about understanding your options before changing anything at all.

The goal isn’t simply to stay in your home. It’s a home that supports your independence, reflects your lifestyle, and gives you the freedom to live the way you choose.

Where are you in your home journey?

Every home has a story. Every person’s needs are different.

Whether you’re planning for tomorrow, responding to change today, or designing a home from the ground up, there’s a place to begin.

Services

Personalized guidance. Practical solutions.

Every home and every person is different, so every service is built around your goals.

Home livability assessments

Best for: getting a full picture of your home

A look at the spaces you use every day, from entrances and bathrooms to lighting, layouts, and routines, to find barriers and improvements that help your home work better for you.

What you’ll gain: a clear picture of your home’s strengths, opportunities, and practical next steps.

Personalized home consultations

Best for: one specific worry or recent change

Focused guidance on one specific concern: bathroom access, safer entrances, adaptive equipment, daily routines, or a recent change in health or mobility.

What you’ll gain: thoughtful recommendations tailored to your circumstances.

Monthly follow-up visits

Best for: ongoing support as needs change

Needs change. Ongoing visits revisit priorities, check how earlier recommendations are working, and plan what comes next, so you don’t navigate every decision alone.

What you’ll gain: continued guidance and support as your needs evolve.

A different kind of perspective

Why Molly?

Where healthcare, design, and home livability come together.

Molly Stauffer

A home is more than its square footage, finishes, or style. It’s where daily life unfolds.

As a licensed occupational therapist and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), I understand how people interact with their environments and how design can support mobility, safety, and everyday activities. My real estate background, including my Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, adds an understanding of homes, layouts, and how different housing choices can support changing needs.

Good design considers more than how a home looks. It considers how life happens inside it.

A livability lens

The details make a difference.

Bathrooms & personal care

Shower access, bathing, toileting, fixtures, and routines that support comfort, safety, and independence.

Entrances & movement

Doorways, stairs, hallways, flooring, and pathways for easier, safer movement through the home.

Daily living spaces

Kitchen usability, lighting, storage, bedrooms, and the everyday activities that make a house feel like home.

Personal needs & future planning

Mobility, adaptive equipment, caregiving, flexible spaces, and changing routines.

The goal is never to make your home feel clinical. Your home should adapt to you, not the other way around.

A guide through the process

You make the decisions. I’ll help you see the possibilities.

01

We begin with your story

What works well? What’s becoming difficult? What matters most to you?

02

We explore your environment

Through an assessment, consultation, or plan review, we look at how your home supports daily life and where it could do more.

03

We identify practical possibilities

Recommendations and priorities that fit your goals and your home. Sometimes the answer is simple; sometimes it takes a more creative approach.

04

You choose your next steps

One small adjustment, a renovation, a builder collaboration, or ongoing visits. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, and you stay in control.

Frequently asked questions

What is aging in place?

Living safely, comfortably, and as independently as possible in your home and community as you grow older. Planning, home modifications, and supportive design help homes adapt to changing needs.

Is home livability planning only for older adults?

Not at all. An injury, surgery, disability, health change, or growing family can create new needs. Thoughtful design helps homes work for people of all ages and abilities.

What is a home livability assessment?

A look at how your home’s layout and features support everyday activities, mobility, comfort, and accessibility, with practical recommendations tailored to you.

Something changed and I need help right away. Can you help?

Yes. I offer personalized consultations to set priorities and explore practical modifications after an injury, surgery, hospitalization, or health change. For urgent medical or discharge needs, your healthcare and discharge-planning teams remain essential partners.

Can you help if I’m building or renovating?

Yes. I consult with homeowners, architects, builders, and contractors to bring universal design and your personal needs into bathrooms, kitchens, entrances, main-level living, and more, during planning rather than after construction.

Do you offer ongoing consulting?

Yes. Monthly follow-up visits provide continued guidance as your needs change and modifications progress.

What is universal design?

An approach to creating spaces people of different ages and abilities can use: easier entrances, accessible bathrooms, thoughtful lighting, functional layouts, and adaptable rooms, all while keeping beauty, comfort, and personal style.

Where do you work?
